Coronavirus

A Message from the MWFA...

Dear Clubs,

Following advice from Football NSW, which has been liaising with the FFA and the Federal Government in relation to the COVID-19 virus, there is a suspension of all football activities until Tuesday April 14.

The MWFA Board will meet with the Presidents of all 17 clubs and the MWFRA on Wednesday evening (March 18) to discuss the situation and consider a date for the 2020 MWFA Competitions to commence.

At this stage the ban on all football activities includes:
  • Training sessions
  • Pre season friendlies
  • MWFA Competition matches
  • FFA Cup matches
  • Training sessions with external providers/academies/private providers
  • MWFA Coach education courses
  • Football Club events (muster days, grading days).

Please note Clubs and the MWFA should understand and apply the Federal Governments guidelines around number of people and safe distances (1.5m apart) when organising meetings to discuss/resolve this issue.

We will publish further information after a meeting of the MWFA Board and the MWFA Club Presidents on Wednesday night.

It is our intention, to put together a detailed list of Frequently Asked Questions off the back of information we receive today and tomorrow, the Board Meeting and the Meeting with Club Presidents to assist clubs with what is a challenging time.

To further assist Clubs with communications, the MWFA will TODAY be sending this information direct to all football players registered in the 2020 MWFA competitions. It will also include the below links

  • The official FFA circular is attached

There is no doubt we are entering a challenging time and we ask for the support of the Member Clubs to work together with the MWFA to minimise the disruption to football while adhering to the health warning and information of the experts in relation to the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

Regards

David Mason
