WFC U8 Ospreys (4) vs Allambie U8 Eagles (3)

Well, what an opening to the season proper. Ospreys players scored all goals (well, all but one) but the final score is 4-3 to the Ospreys!! How does that work out?

With the Eagles short of players Cameron (1st half) and then Alec (2nd half) generously helped them out – great work boys. Alec had a blinder in goals for the Ospreys in the first half. Daniel defended brilliantly and James Q attacked relentlessly with shots on goal narrowly missing. Cameron found the net twice in the first half (for the Eagles) which kept the Ospreys "on the edge of their talons". James M also had a fantastic shot at goal. The off-season training regime certainly paid dividends towards the end of the first term with James Q slotting home a great goal just before halftime as the opposition clearly tired.

The 2nd half opened with James Q on the scoreboard yet again and the Ospreys well on the attack. Both goalies made some great saves and James M was very dependable as always in the goalies jersey throughout the second half. The turning point of the match followed shortly thereafter with Alec scoring for the Ospreys. With some good passing and lead up work from Roarke and Kieran, Cameron was on the scoreboard again (this time for the Ospreys – Are you confused yet – I certainly am!!). Ospreys were now leading 4-2. The Eagles scored a late goal to bring it back to 4-3. Kieran passed forward to Harrison who had an opportunity late in the game with a sharp shot at the goals. The Eagles goalie made a great save to thwart the Ospreys attempt to put a comfortable cushion in the score line. At the final whistle a hard fought and well deserved first up win was the reward for a fantastic team effort. Well done boys!!
